Deer, temples and Japan's first capital
Nara was Japan's capital before Kyoto, and its park still holds 1,200 bowing deer, the world's largest bronze Buddha and a lantern-lined shrine in ancient forest.
TripFlow builds a day-by-day Nara itinerary around your dates, interests and budget — real transport times between stops, named restaurants and a daily cost breakdown you can actually follow. The first two days are free to preview, and you can regenerate as many versions as you like before deciding anything.

When to go, and what to know
Practical Nara advice before you lock in dates.
Best: March–May, October–November
Japan's peak seasons — cherry blossom, Golden Week, autumn foliage and New Year — sell out months ahead in Nara. Travelling just outside those windows usually means lower prices and quieter sights.
- ✓Nara is an easy day trip from Kyoto (45min) or Osaka (30min) — 1-2 nights maximum.
- ✓The deer in Nara Park bow for crackers (shika senbei) — buy the official crackers; don't feed them people food.
- ✓Todai-ji's Great Buddha is awe-inspiring — try the pillar with a hole matching the Buddha's nostril.
